Bryanna and Bailey in Maui, 2005
Thursday, February 24
Bryanna and Bailey arrived with their mom a little after noon.
They had a fun flight, and were happy to get here. They wanted to go to the pool as soon as we
got home, so that’s what we did. We had a
little snack, that Grampi brought back from Taco Bell, and then we went to the
beach across the street for a little while.
It was very windy, so we played in the water but we didn’t stay very
long. The rest of the day, we just
played and relaxed.
Friday, Feb 25
It was a windy day again.
We did swim at the pool, but it wasn’t really hot enough to stay in the
water for very long. Both girls went in
the hot tub for a little while, too.
Bailey and Bryanna have not forgotten how to swim. They are both really good at it. Jumping in and diving (just a little, ‘cause
it’s against the rules) is so fun. We
drove up to the Pali to look for whales. For dinner,
we had hot dogs, macaroni salad, and potato chips. We played a few games of Uno, and colored. When it was dark enough, we went frogging.
Bryanna and Bailey had sunburn on their faces, shoulders and arms. We put Alo Vera on them before bed.

Saturday, Feb 26
Today was Whale Count Day.
The weather was beautiful. We had to get up early to go to the Mauna
Kai. We put lots of sunscreen on so there would be no more sunburn. Bry, Bai,
and Mom played at Keawaikapu Beach for a long time. They also explored the tide pools, and found
some treasures. After that, they went to
be with Grammi and Grampi at the Whale Count.
We went home soon after that, and had chicken wraps and ham
sandwiches. We played at the pool, and
lay in the sun. When we came back to the
condo, we played dominoes. For dinner,
we went up to Janet and George’s house.
They are really nice. George’s
sister, Mary, was visiting from Boston,
and we had a good time. Both girls had
more sunburn, and Mommy looked at the sunscreen bottle and found out that the
expiration date was 2001. Grammi was so
sorry. Bry and Bai left early so Bry could have a
bath in baking soda to make her sunburn feel better.
Sunday, Feb 27
We got up early again to go on a whale watch. We had a great time and saw lots and lots of
whales. They were breaching, pec
slapping, and spy hopping.
When we were done, we went to Rubies for a late breakfast. Then back to the condo to swim in the pool for a long time. In the afternoon, Bry and Bai played with Barbies and horses. Also Grammi read the first chapter of Ramona the Pest, and Mommy blew bubbles with Bry and Bai.
Monday, Feb 28
We got up early again and went to Lahaina to ride in the
Atlantis Submarine. It was fun, but
after a little while, we really wanted to have it end.
After that, we went to Cool Cat for
lunch. The food was good, and we watched
a man across the street at the banyon tree play his guitar and yell at people
about the Bible. That was weird. We went home and swam in the pool most of the
afternoon. We were invited over to Pat
Satenstein’s condo to watch the sunset and have pu pus.

We had a great time.
We saw lots of whales and were hoping to see dolphins, but didn’t get to
see any. Mommy spotted a turtle though,
and that was neat.
Tuesday, March 1
Grampi went to work after breakfast, and dropped us off at
Long’s on the way. We did a little
shopping and walked across the street to The Last Resort to meet Kathy and
Paul. Mommy was going to buy anklets for
us, but Kathy gave them to us for a present.
We went across the street the other way to go to Taco Bell for lunch and
walked to the market to get one more thing.
We were going to take the bus home, but found out that the bus stop was
all the way back next to Long’s so we had to walk back. The bus wasn’t going to come for a long time,
so Grammi called Grampi and asked him to pick us up on the way home
instead. He got there in a few minutes,
and we went home to swim for the rest of the afternoon.
Wednesday, March 2
Ennio and Sherry went with us to the Ocean Center. We had passes for the whole month from
Jennifer and Harry. We got to watch
Harry feed the Hehemanu while the other diver fed the sharks. It was neat.
In the afternoon, we went to the Mai Tai party at the pool. We swam the whole time except for a little
break for a game of Uno with Pat and Grammi.
We are swimming as well as dolphins.
That night, Ennio and Sherry came over for homemade pizza, and we had
brownies and ice cream for dessert.
Thursday, March 3
We went for a walk with Mommy all the way to Pat’s condo to
see if we could find some dolphins. We
didn’t. When we got home, we went to the
pool until a little while before Mommy had to go to the airport. We had lunch and then we left to take her
there. When we dropped her off, we left
right away, so we wouldn’t feel too sad. We
did anyway but we didn’t cry at all. We
made a quick stop at Costco, and then went to Wal Mart to buy a birthday
present for Mali. We got horses in a
stable with the dollar that Mommy gave us.
Grammi and Grampi also bought us noodles. We had a little bit of fun when we left
there, because we went to the Tropical Plantation to walk and run through the
gardens and to visit the monkeys. We
wanted to buy some sugar cane, but they didn’t have any. We’ll look somewhere else for it. When we got home, we went swimming with our
new noodles, and then we played with horses and Barbies. Some new people moved into Chris and
Margaret’s house and they have two girls, Hannah, 8, and Hadley, 6. We like playing with them.
Friday, March 4
We stayed home all day.
We went swimming in the morning, then Grampi set up the play tent for
us, on a sheet in the backyard so we could play with the horses and Barbies
outside. We went swimming again in the late
afternoon, after the sun was low enough so that we could play without
sunscreen. After dinner, we started
working on a 500 piece puzzle. We had a
fun day.
Saturday, March 5
We stayed home again all day, except for in the morning, we
walked over to the Royal Mauian to look for dolphins. Again, we didn’t see any. But we did find lots of spiny sea urchins in
the tide pools at Kamaole Point. We did
our sand art and we both did dolphins.
We’ll work on the fish another day. Grammi had a bad headache, so we
just played for a while after that, but she finally took us to the pool at 12:30. Judy met us there, and we stayed until 4:00.
We played with Jake and some girls.
When we went home, we watched the last hour of Romancing the Stone
with Grammi and Grampi. We also played
with a big beach ball outside, and visited with Sherry, Ennio, and Doug,
another neighbor. We started working the
fish puzzle after dinner, and at 8:00,
we went for a walk. We got to bed very
late, and went right to sleep. Grammi
and Grampi moved us to the living room when they went to bed, and we liked it
there.
Sunday, March 6
We went to Kewal’I Church in Makena. It is a tiny church made out of lava
rock. We were very well-behaved, and
when it was time for the children to go to the front of the church and sit
together for a few minutes, we were willing to go with them. We took communion, and heard a story about
Jesus, and then we went out on the grass to have Sunday School, while Grammi
and Grampi stayed inside the church. We
had a good time. When we were done
there, we came home and played in the pool all afternoon, with Grammi and
Grampi watching, and playing with us part of the time. We played with Jake, a six-year old boy who
was staying in 6-106. For dinner, we had
Alexanders Fish, but we didn’t like it, so we got to have a sandwich and French
Fries with fruit. Grammi made chocolate
chip cookies, which we took to George, Janet and Mary, Ennio and Sherry, and Karen
and Carl (Karen got here this afternoon).
We worked on the puzzle for one hour.
We got to read for ½ hour when we went to bed.
Monday, March 7
We swam most of the day, and wore Grammi out. In the afternoon, Grampi went in the pool to
play with us for a very long time. We
also played at Jake’s house for an hour, and Grammi and Grampi got to read
their books while they ate lunch. We
played with Hadley, too. After swimming
we went to Walmart to get some wrapping paper and a card. Then we went to the Vitamin Store to get us
some vitamins. We stopped at Quiznos to
get us a sandwich because Grammi had a mystery shop there. We really liked our turkey sandwich and
Grammi said we can go there again soon.
Tuesday, March 8
Grammi went to exercise at the pool for an hour, so we got
to stay home with Grampi. When she got
back, Hadley and Jake were visiting us, and we all played. Jake had to leave, so he only stayed until 10:00, but Hadley got to have
muffins, pineapple, and apple juice with us, and we colored with markers and
crayons, and played with paper dolls. We
are staying out of the sun all day, and we get to go to swim in the pool
tonight after dark! We are excited about
that. When Hadley left to go swimming,
we painted with the paints that Jake gave us. We dressed up in our hula skirts and played horses.
After dinner, we walked over to the park to watch the sunset. It was boring because we really couldn’t wait to go into the pool in the dark. Karen stopped us on the way to the pool, saying that she had a surprise for us. She gave us new plates, cups, and bowls, along with stickers, plastic forks, knives and spoons for play dough or sand, and fun pads.
Hadley, Hannah and their dad, Greg went in the pool with us.
Greg pulled us all around on our noodles, and we had a great time. Grampi went in the pool with us, but Grammi was too cold to go in. She sat and watched, and when it started to rain, she put a towel over her head and shoulders to keep warm. We went right to bed when we got home, and then we told Grammi we were hungry. She was a little unhappy with us, because she was exhausted, but she made us chocolate milkshakes which were delicious, and we got to drink them in the bed. We had to brush our teeth again, though.

Wednesday, March 9
We woke up in the middle of the night and heard rain. It was really loud. It rained all morning, so we couldn’t play
outside. We went to town to do a mystery
shop at a furniture store. On the way
home, we went to try to find the end of a hiking spot that we went on with
Mommy when she was here, but we didn’t find it.
We also stopped at Long’s to drop off some film so we can see the
pictures Grampi took of us, and we went to the video store to find a movie to
watch – Scooby Doo in Hawai’i. We
went to the pool after lunch to wait for the Mai Tai party, but we found out it
was cancelled because they thought it was going to rain again. We got to swim for two hours, so we didn’t
care that it was cancelled.
After dinner,
we watched our movie.
Thursday, March 10
The wind blew hard all day.
We had to stay inside most of the day.
We watched our movie, but Grammi and Grampi wanted to get us out for a
little while, so we went to the Humpback Whale Sanctuary, where we put puzzles
together, looked at all the exhibits, and got to handle lots of cool
things. Grammi asked us some of the
questions about cetaceans and other marine life (hard questions that are for
bigger kids) and we knew lots of the answers.
The wind seemed to be a little bit weaker, so we stopped at the park and
played on the climbing structures and slides.
Grampi chased us and we got to scream a lot. We had a snack when we got home, and we
watched our movie again. Grammi fixed dinner early so we could play
with Hadley and Hannah outside for a while.
Then we worked on the puzzle before going to bed.

We didn’t know it would be cold there, and we didn’t take jackets, so, when we got out of the car, we were chilly. But by the time we got to the top of the stairs, we had warmed up. It was lots of fun. Bryanna even got to take a picture of Bailey with Grampi and Grammi. Bailey didn’t want to take one. We went down to the stream and walked through the darkest part of the trail. The best part happened on the way back to the car. In the parking lot, we found lots of cats. They seemed friendly, but we couldn’t touch them. We talked to them for a long time. We stopped to get a cheeseburger and chicken nuggets at McDonald’s on the way home.
After lunch, we did the sand art fish, and then we got to go in the pool for a couple of hours.
We played with Hadley and Hannah and Greg. He pulled us around on our noodles until we were dizzy. The evening was spent playing with Hadley and going for a walk with her and her mom to look for frogs and geckoes. We had to say goodbye because they were going home on Sunday.
Saturday, March 12
We woke up to hard rain and today was the Luau at the
church. Grammi called to find out if it
had been postponed, and found out that it was going to be under tents, so we
didn’t have to worry about the rain.
Well - - we got there at 9:30
and found that the tents were really metal canopies, and there were not enough
dry tables and chairs for all the people who showed up. We were lucky that we were so early, so we
did get a good place to sit. The music
was good, but we were bored with sitting there for so long. We couldn’t hear any of the talking because
of the sound of the rain on the metal.
At least we had peanuts, pineapple, grapes, and apples to snack on. After over one hour, Grammi went to the
bathroom, and discovered that there was a keiki tent with craft projects. She came back to our table to ask if we
wanted to go over there to make a hat, and we thought it sounded great. We were the only kids there so the ladies
that were working there gave us lots of attention. The food was served soon after that, and
Grammi and Grampi decided that we wouldn’t like any of it. So, they gave us time to finish our hats, and
then we drove to Taco Bell to get lunch.
In the afternoon, we read, colored, watched TV, and played. Grampi found all the movies that they had
saved for us under the bed, so we got to watch Land Before Time III
before bed.
Sunday, March 13
It was a beautiful day, so we went to the beach with ALL of
the beach toys. Unfortunately, the waves
were really big, and it the water felt cold, so we mostly played in the sand
for two hours. We did go in the water
with our little boogie rafts to try to ride the waves in to the shore, but we
fell off a lot. It was funny. Sherry joined us for a while, and we shared
our snacks with her. When we came home,
we went in the pool for ten minutes.
Grammi fixed us some lunch, and we played while she made apple
pies. We became snakes, and hissed until
she gave us an apple slice. We ended up
eating a whole apple that way. We got to
go to the pool after the pies were done, and we played for ½ hour, but the air
was cold and it had started getting windy.
The Drummeys & Avalons came over for dinner. We got to sit with Sherry and Mary. We had a good time, and Bailey ate three hot
dogs, and two servings of salad. Bryanna
decided to try the apple pie, and she even asked for (and got) a second
piece. Grammi was happy that she liked
it. Bedtime was late, and Bry and Bai
were happy to go to bed.
Monday, March 14
We had no plans.
Another storm was supposed to be on the way. We decided to go see Pacifier. It was pretty funny. When we went home, we got to swim because it
had gotten nice and warm while we were at the movie. Mike, the pool attendant, was talking to
Bryanna and Bailey, and he told Grammi that they were flirting with him. Just after dark, we were getting ready to go
to Bada Bing with Ennio & Sherry when the power went off, again, just like
the last time we were here. We got the
flashlights, so we could finish getting ready.
The power was out all the way to the stoplight. Dinner was delicious. We had moon pizza, and Bailey ate a big
salad. The little garlic rolls looked
icky, but were our favorite part of dinner.
We were going to get an Oreo milkshake, but they were out of milk. When we got home, we got to have ice cream
and cookies for dessert.
Tuesday, March 15
We woke up to the sound of rain. It stopped and Grammi heard the sound of the
ocean, so we walked to the park and ran around screaming. We had lots of fun. Grammi showed us the line near the horizon,
where the rain was falling, and we could see it coming our way. After ten minutes, the line reached the
shore, and it started to pour. We ran to
the street, and got across right away, when a nice driver stopped for us. We got the newspaper, and went home.
It rained REALLY hard most of the morning and
Grammi thought we should go to Hookipa to see the big waves, so we left for
town a little while after breakfast. We
stopped at Walmart
and bought art stuff, the new paints we saw on
TV, and posters to color with markers. We
played the alphabet game on the way. When
we got to Hookipa, we found that the way
down was blocked with yellow tape, so we
had to watch from above, but the waves weren’t
very big anyway.
At Haiku, we found a great park to play in for a while, and Grammi said we’ll go back there another time. Then we drove until we found the horse we fed the last time we were here.
She was very friendly, and we think she remembered us. We went to Ruby’s for lunch. Bry had a cheeseburger. Bailey split a bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich with Grammi. And we all had milkshakes. Oreo!!! We came home and used our new paints. We loved making lots of pictures for Mommy and Daddy. Grampi had to go to a meeting and Grammi took us swimming. For dinner we had quesadillas and spam.

Wednesday, March 16
Grammi and Grampi put it on the lanai table so we can enjoy it. We started coloring the unicorn pictures. We went swimming at mai tai party and Judy Lawson joined us to visit and swim. We played Uno. Dinner was steak and salad.
Thursday, March 17
Grampi had to go to a big meeting, so Gammi and Mary took us
to Long’s, to the church to drop off some food, and to the library. We got oodles of great books. Then we came home to have lunch and go to the
pool. We swam for a long time. Then Mary and Grammi played Uno with us. After the meeting, Grampi came home and
relaxed for a little while. We met the
new family next door. They have two
girls, Samantha and Bailey. They also
have lots of friends staying nearby, and we got to play with all the kids after
dinner. Karen came over for spaghetti
and apple pie.

Bounce House
Yeah!! Today is the day of the big party at the pool. It will closed at noon, so Grammi took us to the pool early in the
morning to swim for a while Grampi went to take care of the recycling. We had a snack, played and read books after
we went home. Grammi went to Karen’s at 11:30 to talk to the people we are
going to babysit for on Monday. Grampi
got a phone call from Jennifer reminding him about the birthday party. Bryanna quickly ran down to Karen’s to get
Grammi, and we all went speedy quick to the park for the party. The bounce house
and playing with the kids was so fun, that Grampi didn’t want us to have to
leave, so Grammi took the van to work at The Last Resort. Later Grampi, Bryanna and Bailey took the bus
to pick up the van, and they went to Taco Bell for lunch. Bryanna thought she only wanted one taco, but
after she ate it, she was still hungry, so Grampi gave her some money, and (all by herself) she waited in line,
ordered a taco, paid, and then waited off to the side for it to be ready. She was very proud of herself. When Grammi was finished working, we all went
home, and Bry and Bai took a shower, because they were still very hot from all
that jumping and playing at the park. We
rested for an hour, and then went to the big party at the pool. We got lots of compliments on our behavior
and on how adorable we looked. The food
was pretty good. There was lots of
fruit, cheese, and, for Bailey, salami!
Then the show started. There were
hula dancers and a fire dancer who wasn’t really out there long enough. It was all very entertaining. When we went home, it was already almost 9:00, so we all went to bed.
March 19, Saturday
It was a pretty routine day.
We went to the pool after we helped Grammi sort through some books. We only swam for a little while. Then we got to play several games of Hic Up
Sticks and Uno. When we came home, we had bologna and cheese sandwiches on
hamburger buns. We ate every bite. We read books, and started reading one of the
new chapter books. Bry and Bai were
discussing dinner with Grammi and they suggested a fruit salad, so Grammi
called Grampi at work to ask him to stop on the way home for some different
kinds of fruit. He bought strawberries,
cantaloupe, blueberries, bananas and oranges.
Grammi made cheesy potatoes, which Bryanna liked and Bailey didn’t. We loved the fruit salad with yogurt. After dinner we walked over to the park and
played Frisbee for a long time. Bryanna
got pretty good at aiming the Frisbee.
We were going to get to go swimming but there were too many rowdy people
at the pool when we got home. We watched
Cops for a few minutes, and Grammi let us have books in bed until we were ready
to go to sleep.
Sunday, March 20
In the morning, we went shopping at the mall with
Karen. She bought us Icees. We flew our kites in the backyard.
The people we’re going to babysit for tomorrow came over to swim with us at 3:30 and we swam for a while, but it got a little cold, so we couldn’t stay very long. We went to Marco’s Grill for dinner. We prefer to call it the gecko restaurant. Dinner was fun, and we stopped on the way home to buy ice cream so we could have dessert when we got home. After dessert, it was time
for Grammi to read us some stories, and then we
went to sleep.

Monday, March 21
Grammi went over to babysit at the beach house where the
Mansisidors are staying. We got up and
had breakfast with Grampi, and then he and Karen took us over to babysit with
Grammi. We went to Charlie Young
Beach to play with lots
of sand toys. It was kind of hard with
the two little boys, but Grampi helped us and he sat with is while we played at
the beach. When we were done at the beach,
we went back to the house to have lunch, and both boys took a nap, so Grammi
read to us in the backyard. Grampi
walked home. When the parents got back,
they brought us new coffee cups from Starbucks.
They said the cups were for helping Grammi take care of the boys. When we got home, we swam in the pool for a
long time, played Uno, and flew kites.
After dinner we went to the beach boardwalk at Wailea to watch sunset
while we walked. We stopped at a Luau,
but the firedancer was not going to come out for a long time, and we were
getting tired, so we came home and went to bed.
Tuesday, March 22
Grammi had to work at The Last Resort, so we went to the Ocean Center
with Grampi. When we got home, he took
us swimming at the pool. We picked
Grammi up at work and we went to Peggy Sue’s for dinner. We had delicious hamburgers and fries and for
dessert, we got hot fudge sundaes. When
we got home, we played Uno with Grammi and Grampi for a very long time and then
we played our new princess game that Mary got for us.
Wednesday, March 23
After taking Grammi to work, we came home and played for a
while. Then Grampi made a list of stuff
we needed, and we went to Kahului to shop.
Grampi asked us what we’d like for lunch, and we asked if we could go to
IHOP. We had pancakes and bacon. Bryanna got to go into the restroom by
herself with Grampi waiting outside the door.
We went home to play until it was time to go get Grammi. As soon as we got home, Grammi took us to the
pool to practice our diving and swimming under water. For dinner, we had BBQ steak, French fries
and salad. Dessert was cantaloupe,
strawberries, and ice cream. We went
frog hunting with the new flashlight Grampi bought at Lowe’s. Grammi read us two stories when we went to
bed, and then it was time for light’s out.
Thursday, March 24
After breakfast, we took Grammi to work. After dropping her off, we went to Star
market to buy yogurt for Grammi & took it to her. We went home for a while – had snack &
Grampi read from the scary Garfield
book while we ate yogurt and donuts.
Went to Foodland for drinks to have with lunch & bought
2 Sponge Bob coloring books. We talked
about going to see Robots at the movies, but Bailey couldn’t be persuaded to
see it by Grampi and Bryanna, so we went to Taco Bell, bought lunch and took it
to Kalama Park.
We played in the park after lunch – met a girl named Misty who was 4
years old & we played follow the leader with her. We got really hot and sweaty, and Bryanna
asked Grampi if we could go home so we went to Lappert’s for ice cream &
took it home to eat. The ice cream was
delicious. We colored in our new books
& watched Dragon Tales & then Sponge Bob. Picked Grammi up from work and went home to
play while Grammi fixed leftover pizza & KFC with salad. Grampi read more from the Garfield book while we ate dinner. He even read Psyco Pizza again, so Grammi
could hear it. After dinner, it was
still a little bit light, so we played outside with Bailey and Samantha.
Friday, March 25
Went swimming before we took Grammi to work.
Went to the recycling center & dropped off our plastics.
Had lunch – bacon, yogurt, wheat thins with squirt cheese
and juice.
Bailey had 3 bacons, lime yogurt and apple juice
Bryanna had 3 bacons, pina colada yogurt and orange juice
Took Karen to the airport.
Went to Walmart looking for toys – no luck.
Went to K mart & found two Sponge Bob toys.
Picked Grammi up at work.
Went to Cheeseburgers for dinner.
Had Lappert’s ice cream for dessert.
Played with our new toys before bed.
Watched the last half of Madeline when we went to bed.
Saturday, March 26
Pool closed today because somebody pooped in it!
Took Grammi to work & Grampi got doughnuts for snack.
Came home & had snack & watched some TV.
Took a walk with Grampi.
Picked up Grammi & took home Chinese food from Panda
Express.

What beautiful colors
Colored Easter eggs, both hard boiled and raw. We got really messy hands, but it was lots of
fun and the eggs were very pretty.
George & Janet came over with chocolate bunnies for us. They stayed to watch old movies of Bryanna and Bailey from
2003 & 2004 – Sparks & Maui
Grammi read stories at bedtime. Grampi had to go to the store to see if he
could find corn on the cob for Easter dinner.
They didn’t have any.
Sunday, March 27
The bunny hid our eggs all over the house and even on the
lanai. We were glad he didn’t make a
mistake and hide the raw eggs along with the cooked ones. We got up fast when Grammi came into the
bedroom and said, “Happy Easter.” We got
some nice surprises from the Easter Bunny, like sets of rings inside neat
cases, bracelets, whale key chains, coloring books, and reading books. We also got some little presents from Grammi
and Grampi.
While we were finishing our breakfast of bacon, scrambled eggs and English muffins, Mommy and Daddy called us. We got to talk to both of them for a long time, and we told them all about what we’ve been doing.

We were going to go into town to look for corn on the cob,
but Grammi took us for a walk first, and we got so sweaty, that she decided to
let us go swimming for about an hour first.
When we got to town, we went to the mall to run an errand at Sears, and
we found some cute short and shirt outfits that we tried on in the dressing
room. They looked adorable on us, so we
bought them. We wanted to get pretzels
and smoothies for lunch, but, because it was Easter, they were closed, so we
went to Jack In the Box for hamburgers, which Bryanna loved, and the rest of us
didn’t.
The markets didn’t have any corn so we went home and swam for a long time. We then played before we had ham, rice, corn, garlic bread, and baked beans, which Grammi said we didn’t have to have any of. After dinner, we took some Easter eggs and candy up to George and Janet. We were going to play dominoes, but we found a neat show on Animal Planet, so we all watched that. Then it was bedtime, and Grammi read us our new books, along with a library book and the story of Easter from the children’s Bible. Bryanna learned how to read some new words, and we will practice them, so she can surprise Mommy and Daddy in a few days.

Monday, March 28We went to Kula planning to go to the Kula Lodge for lunch, but we found that the cheapest thing on the menu was a $14.00 hamburger, so we changed our minds about eating there. We drove around looking for horses to feed with the two bags of carrots we bought and it was raining really hard, so we were worried that we wouldn’t be able to get out of the van, but the rain stopped just before we found the same horse we fed the last time time Bry and Bai were here. She was very friendly, and happy to get the carrots.

Wednesday, March 30
After breakfast, we each peeled eggs for the egg salad that
Grammi wanted to make. We drove into
Kahului looking for some good workbooks for the plane trip, but we didn’t find
anything Grammi thought was good enough.
Since we were in town, we Ruby’s for lunch and had pancakes, bacon, and
scrambled eggs. As soon as we got home,
Grammi went to save our places at the pool, and we went to the pool at 1:30, and stayed until after the Mai
Tai party was over. We swam during most
of that time, and we got to play dominoes with Grammi and Judy. When we went home, Grammi gave us bowls of
egg salad and crackers to spread it on.
We also had cantaloupe and some other stuff to go with it. We went to bed at 7:30 because we were all verrrry tired.
Thursday, March 31
We had a fun day.
Breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes and bacon was early, so we could go
to the beach. We went to Ulua. We got a great spot right near the water in
the shade. Bry and Bai played in the
sand, and took a long walk all by themselves.
When it got warmer, we all went in the water. Bailey was afraid to go past the waves. Grammi persuaded her to let her carry her in
and jump a few of the waves. Bryanna
went all the way in with Grampi and swam and floated on the little float. Grampi took her over to look for fish at the
reef. Then Grammi, Bry and Bai went to
the rocks and went tide pooling. We
found lots of creatures, especially sea cucumbers. When we got home, we had peanut butter
sandwiches for lunch, and then went to the pool for an hour. Bryanna said that she likes swimming in the
pool more than swimming in the ocean. We
cleaned out our drawers and played with our parasols on the lanai for a while
after that. We all played UNO, and then
Grammi put a movie on in the bedroom for us and she and Grampi relaxed for a
while. For dinner, we had meatloaf and
spaghetti.
Friday, April 1
We went to Haiku again today, to feed the horses. We found two beautiful ones to feed and pet.
We also went back to the neat park we went to
last time. We ran and played for a long time, and had a lot of fun. We had a picnic there and stayed so long that we had to hurry home because Judy and Bill and Jeannie were supposed to come over for dinner. We stopped at Safeway to get the pizzas, and Grammi made a pie. Just before they were supposed to get here, Bill called to say that Jeannie was sick and had to go to the hospital, so they couldn’t come over after all. We went to swim in the pool until almost sunset, and then we went over to the beach to hunt for crabs. The sunset was beautiful, with lots of pink and red streaks in the sky.
Saturday, April 2
We did a lot of cleaning today. Grammi and Grampi moved the furniture in the
living room, too. After lunch, we went
to the Whale Foundation Store and bought new sea horses and four pair of
sunglasses. We also got to have ice cream
cones. Then we went to the park in the Iao Valley, where we walked through the bamboo forest like last year. Poor Grampi slipped on some mud and fell part way down, hurting his arm. Grammi drove home because it hurt so badly. Judy and Bill came over for dinner, and took Bry and Bai to the pool for a few minutes while Grammi got everything ready. We had pizza and salad and chocolate cream surprise pie for dessert. The surprise was cookies and cream pudding. Both of us ate some of the pie. After dinner, we all played Uno, and then Bry and Bai went to bed on the fold-out and watched Shrek, while the grown-ups played 5000.
Sunday, April 3
We went on our last whale watch today, but first we had to
take Grampi to the doctor because his arm was hurting a lot. He got some medicine, and decided not to go
on the whale watch with us. Kathy and
Paul went with us, and we saw a few whales up close.
The wind was blowing hard.
When we got home, we had spam and cheddar wraps and chicken noodle soup
for lunch. After Grammi did a little
cleaning, we went to the pool for two hours.
We played hard and wore Grammi out.
Dinner was leftover pizza, and Grammi gave us pop-sicles for dessert.
Monday, April 4
This was our last full day on Maui
until we get to come here the next time. Grammi crawled into bed with us for a little while before we got up. We were sad to leave, but happy that we would be going home.
Grammi and Grampi wanted us to have fun all day. They had to do some work around the house,
but then we went to the public pool for a while. We were going to dive off the diving board,
but we both decided that it was just too high, so we dove off the side into the
13 foot deep pool. We swam out to the
middle, where Grammi was waiting, and Bailey swam back to the side, and got
scared because the distance from the water to the deck was far away. Grammi helped us to get out of the pool, and
we went into the other pool to play.

When we were done, we went home and Grammi made us grilled
cheese and bacon sandwiches and read us two stories from the new book that we
got for the airplane. After that, we went
to our pool for a few hours! We were
really hungry after all that swimming, so we went to Peggy Sue’s for an early dinner. We also went to Long’s to buy leis for our
friends.
Back at home, we played quietly, and at 8:00, which is bedtime, Grammi asked us if we wanted to go swimming for a while! We sure did! We love to swim when it's dark.

One last dip in the pool
We had a great time, and we finally got into bed at 9:15, after our showers. Bryanna told Grampi that tomorrow was going
to be a sad day and a happy day.
Tuesday, April 5
Today we go home! We
are excited to see Mommy and Daddy, and all our friends. The flight home was great. We got to sit together for most of the time,
because we were playing so nicely. We
were really happy to see Daddy and Mommy waiting for us at the airport, ready
to take us home in our NEW TRUCK!! But
we are already planning our next trip to Maui, because we love it there so
much.
